The story is immediately familiar and bitter-sweet to just about anyone who shared an apartment with friends in their early 20s: four starving artists live in a loft apartment in Paris. They meet girls and fall in love. They argue with the girls, and find out that love is not always light and sunny. They come together as a community when funds are short and put their differences aside to help each other when it matters most. And they stand by each other when tragedy falls. Puccini's lush score is a romantic swoon you won't easily recover from.
